Comparative Anatomy and Physiology
Swine provide an optimal model species for investigation as swine share anatomical and physiological characteristics with humans that make them ideal for translational studies. From vaccination development, to xenotransplantation, surgical techniques, to cancer and disease models; pigs have provided valuable insight to the research and medical communities.
The NSTC aims to assist investigators in the identification of translational techniques between pigs and humans, as well as aligning the appropriate age of animal from fetal (to allow for in utero therapies) to post-pubertal stages to best suit their project goals.
